Cryorig C1 – Conseil Config: Review |Specs | Price | CPU Performance| Hashrate| Setup| Configuration | Advantage (Pros) and Disadvantages (Cons) and other important features that will help you make better decision.

We continue with Cryorig which I remind you is a newcomer in the landscape of CPU coolers but which wants to be a serious competitor for all the tenors of high-end air cooling such as Noctua and be quiet !. I am going to present to you a cooler studied for mini-ITX configuration, I named the Cryorig C1! From the top of its 7.4cm and equipped with a 14cm fan it has the heavy task of cooling a processor in a narrow configuration like a mini-ITX box, let’s see what the little one has in the belly!

Cryorig_C1_boite5

The Cryorig C1 is delivered in a very classy box which gives at first sight the impression of a quality product, on the front side there is a profile product photo with only the make and model as well as the color and a mention on the fan present (1 x XT140). At the rear, all the technical specifications are present, whether at the level of the cooler itself as well as of its fans and compatible sockets.
On the sides we can see a quick presentation of the different strong points of the C1, the “low profile” format specially designed for mini-ITX / micro-ATX, the quick installation in 5 mins (it seems a bit fast but good to me) ) as well as 4 “U” heat pipes for a total of 6 heat pipes. Let’s not forget the side with the big silver C1 that shines and makes bling bling 😉

By opening the box we find a small message saying that we can take advantage of a 3-year warranty extension (plus the 3-year base) by registering the product on the Cryorig website which will give entitlement to VIP status with the extended warranty, “premium” technical support and access to prize draws. Speaking of VIP status, there is also a competition at the moment to win special editions open to all including a 24 carat gold plated specially reserved for “VIP”, more info here.

First of all we come across the box containing the bundle with a listing of all the parts present, we see that Cryorig has a sense of detail like Noctua.

Cryorig_C1_boite_bundle

Inside this box all the accessories are individually wrapped and stored in small compartments, we do it well!

Cryorig_C1_boite_ouvert3

Under the accessories box there is another box containing the cooler itself with a small hole highlighting the logo of the marked on the fan on the front. On the sides we can also see 2 additional pieces of cardboard to add additional protection.
In the end, the packaging of the Cryorig C1 is really very well done, very close to the excellence that Noctua offers, it is rather a very good point!

Cryorig_C1

Here is the beast! A clever mix of white and black as Cryorig likes to do, its height is really very limited (7.4cm) but the build quality is as usual really at the top and it has absolutely nothing to envy to other large premium brands. Cryorig makes it a point of honor to make products that please the eyes, which means that the C1 is no exception!

Cryorig_C1_above

Seen from above we can clearly see the 6 heat pipes crossing 56 fins from the top, a frame is present to fix the fan itself hidden by the white plastic fairing of the most beautiful effect. 2 openings in the fins are present giving access to the 2 fixing screws of the cooler.

Cryorig_C1_cote1
Cryorig_C1_cote2
Cryorig_C1_cote3

DE profile we can see the 2 rows of fins, in addition to the 56 at the top there are 35 smaller below which are also crossed by the 4 central heat pipes, these start in the lower fins to go to the level processor and go back up into the top fins. The design is ingenious and increases the dissipation surface, here is a small diagram which will be more telling than my explanations:

Cryorig_C1_caloducs

In addition to the nickel-plated heat pipes, everything is of course an exceptional finish, even going so far as to paint the lower fins in black.

Cryorig_C1_below
Cryorig_C1_surface_contact

Below is the label hiding the surface in contact with the processor, it does not have a mirror finish and we can still see the traces of machining, however this will certainly not affect performance.

Cryorig_C1_bundle1
Cryorig_C1_bundle2

The Cryorig C1 bundle consists of:

  • 1 installation manual
  • 1 Intel mounting plate
  • 1 AMD mounting plate
  • 4 screws for a slim fan
  • 4 screws for a 2.5cm thick fan
  • 4 rubber pads for another fan
  • 1 tube of thermal paste
  • 1 Phillips screwdriver
  • 1 registration card for VIP status
  • 1 alcohol wipe

Specification: Hashrate – Cryorig C1

The bundle is therefore extremely well supplied, there will be everything you need to mount the C1 and more, screws for the “slim” fan or for another one of your choice, 1 tube of thermal paste and a screwdriver which will be almost essential as we will see later. Seeing all of this I can’t help but compare it to a bundle from Noctua, and that’s a pretty good sign!

As we can see the Cryorig C1 is compatible with all sockets on the market, even with the aging Socket 775 which has not been used in new configurations for ages. Its weight is rather important for this type of cooler with 628g fan included (539g without), in terms of dimensions and with 7.4cm high it can be installed in 95% of mini-ITX boxes, it is however rather large (fan of 14cm requires) and it will be necessary to pay attention to the placement of the socket on the motherboard under penalty of not being able to install a graphics card.

As I said above it is composed of 56 fins on the upper part and 35 at the lower part, all in aluminum of course and through 6 nickel-plated copper heat pipes 6mm thick. There is no need to say the performances are likely to be there!
The 1.3cm thick “slim” XT140 fan rotates between 700 and 1300 RPM for a noise ranging from 20 to 24dB, enough to cool the little monster.

It is possible to find it around 55 € (not in our beautiful country unfortunately) accompanied by a 3-year guarantee (+ 3 years once registered on the site) it should be an excellent alternative for a mini-ITX gaming configuration, let’s see it all!

On the box is the very fast assembly of the Cryorig, so this is what I will detail here and give my opinion on the ease and speed of it, let’s go!

Cryorig_C1_montage1

First of all you have to take the plate corresponding to the socket used, the Intel plate in my case and set to A (socket 1366), B (socket 115x) or C (socket 775), no screws to put in place or whatever whether it is here, all you have to do is push the small slider, you save a little time and it’s very practical.

Cryorig_C1_ Montage2

You must then place the plate behind the motherboard.

Cryorig_C1_montage3

Once placed it is necessary to screw the spacers on the 4 screws.

Cryorig_C1_montage4

The 2 heatsink mounting plates are then placed on these spacers, 2 directions are possible, depending on the desired orientation.

Cryorig_C1_montage5

Once the plates are in place, all you have to do is fix them using the 4 hand nuts provided.

Cryorig_C1_montage6

Don’t forget the small dose of thermal paste on the processor. We are almost at the end!

Cryorig_C1_montage7
Cryorig_C1_montage8
Cryorig_C1_montage9

So there you have it, once the cooler is placed on the processor, just screw it to the 2 plates using the 2 screws already preinstalled using the screwdriver provided!
I want to say that the installation in 5 minutes announced on the box was not a lie, the assembly is really very simple and very fast!

Memory / PCIe compatibility

As usual the choice of a cooler is always linked to the choice of memory and motherboard, let’s see what the Cryorig C1 has to say at this level:

Cryorig_C1_clearance_ram

As expected, the C1 accepts memory up to 4.2cm high so the “low profile” will be the choice to make.

Cryorig_C1_clearance_pcie1
Cryorig_C1_clearance_pcie2

At the level of the PCIe port it works, but very fair it will not be necessary to have a plate which emerges behind the graphics card or even screws with a head a little too big.

The test platform

The Cryorig C1 has been tested on the configuration below:

  • Processor : Intel Core i7 875K @ 3.2 Ghz
  • Motherboard : Asus P7P55D
  • Mémoire: Kingston HyperX 4 x 2 Go 1600Mhz
  • Disque dur: WD Raptor 150 Go
  • Graphics card : Sapphire Toxic 5850
  • Power supply : Seasonic X650

The test protocol

The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk (still an average of the 4 cores).

The cooler has been tested against:

  • be quiet! Pure Rock (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U12S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U14S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-D15 (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-L12 (tested here)

The temperatures

Cryorig_C1_results_temperatures

As we can see the temperatures are really excellent for a mini-ITX oriented cooler, its closest competitor, the NH-L12, is a few degrees behind in 12V and PWM, which is normal since the Noctua has less. smaller heat pipes and fans. The Cryoric C1 does not have the slightest problem to cool the slightly overclocked Core i7 875K and this at all speeds of the 14cm fan provided, nothing is however without impact in this world and this will certainly have repercussions on noise pollution, let’s see it all!

Noise pollution

Warning: Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings The measurements below are only indicative! The readings were taken 15cm from the cooler.

Cryorig_C1_resultats_nuisances_sonores

Indeed, we have nothing for nothing! In 5V the Cryorig displays 34 dB which is silent but not inaudible (I remind you that the readings are taken at 15cm which is very close) but will most certainly be drowned out by the noise of other components locked in a box. In 12V the 14cm “slim” fan is clearly heard with 45 dB but the generated noise is free of parasitic noises (motor, friction etc.), it will be more judicious to leave it in PWM mode which, with 41dB cannot not to be called silent but will again certainly drown in the noise of the graphics card under full load.

Cryorig_C1_featured

Here we are at the end of this test, what to say about Cryorig C1?
First of all the build quality is simply excellent, nothing exceeds, all the materials are of very good quality, the bundle is very well supplied and these last two points are at the level of a Noctua product, a good point there above! The design is another hit with a mix of white and black that is sure to make an impression. The assembly is also not left out with quite simply the fastest mounting system I have had in my hands.

The performance for a mini-ITX oriented cooler is really excellent whether in 5V or 12V, and for good reason the 14cm fan blows hard and will not be discreet under load (without being a wind tunnel).
Offered at around € 55 (when you can easily find it in France) it is an excellent choice of cooler when setting up a performance-oriented mini-ITX gamer configuration, you won’t be disappointed!

Advantages

  • Performances
  • Design
  • Build quality
  • Very easy to assemble
  • Bundle

A big thank you to Cryorig who allowed me to do this test.
