Today the event of Epic Games and its graphics engine Unreal Engine took place, so we started knowing that Crystal Dynamics has announced that it is developing a new installment of Tomb Raider entirely created with the graphics engine Unreal Engine 5.

Announced during the State of Unreal 2022, the company indicates that thanks to this next-generation graphics engine, the new Tomb Raider title will offer a “high-quality action-adventure cinematic experience“, Remember that the last installment of the franchise, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, used the Foundation graphics engine originally designed by Crystal Dynamics, which is the same graphics engine that we saw in Rise of the Tomb Raider, but improved by Eidos Montréal.

In this way, Crystal Dynamics joins the tendency of studios to abandon the use of using their own graphics engine by Unreal Engine 5. Some of the other companies to announce the same movement were The Coalition and even CD Projekt RED, who already announced a few weeks ago that they were developing a new game based on The Witcher IP created with Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games.
