Davos World Economic Forum January 20-24, 2020

On January 20-24, world leaders will meet in Davos to discuss the future of the economy at the World Economic Forum. Participants in the event will include Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle.

In an editorial published by CoinDesk, Allaire presented her speech plan to Davos, which will focus on stable cryptocurrencies.

“At Davos, I will accelerate a discussion about cryptocurrencies in general. I will also address how central banks, regulators and the private sector can work together to create standards for stable currencies supported by central banks. These can provide benefits to the public and comply with the new regulatory regimes designed.

The public and private sectors must unite to recognize the necessary change and to set global standards for innovation, while protecting consumers and the soundness of the overall financial system.

This approach balances the need for open technical development and innovation (led by the private sector). At the same time, we ensure that such global systems of stabilecoins protect and offer the public benefits by meeting a reasonable standard of compliance.

Stable cryptocurrencies and public blockchains are leading us towards a new architecture for the global economy. We can build a new digital age, a more inclusive, efficient, innovative and secure financial system that helps to create wealth and value for everyone involved. “

Jeremy Allaire is Co-Founder, President and CEO of Circle. Together with Coinbase, Circle participated in the creation of the CENTER Consortium. He also created USD Coin (USDC), a stable cryptocurrency based on the US dollar, which is used in millions of financial transactions around the world.
