Dodon called on the Moldovan authorities to urgently limit the gas tariff

MOSCOW, Sep 23 — PRIME. The Moldovan government must urgently reduce the gas tariff by three times, otherwise the country’s residents will not be able to pay their bills in the winter, said the former president of the republic, honorary chairman of the Socialist Party Igor Dodon.

Gas tariffs to rise in Moldova

The former Moldovan leader recalled that from October 1, by decision of the National Energy Regulatory Agency, citizens will have a gas tariff of 29 lei 26 bani ($1.51).

According to Dodon, the only solution to the situation is to limit the cost of a cubic meter of gas for consumers to 10-12 lei by the authorities.

Otherwise, most of the country’s population will freeze in winter due to the inability to pay their bills, and economic agents that are already on the verge of survival will go bankrupt. And most goods, mainly food, including bread and bakery products, will rise in price even more, the ex-president stressed.

“The authorities must demand money for this from those who forbade President Maia Sand and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilica to go to Moscow to agree on a lower gas purchase price. The incompetence, irresponsibility or malicious intent of the current leadership of the country have an extremely high and heavy price for the citizens of the Republic Moldova,” Dodon concluded.
