Enel divisions to be inspected in Italy in connection with customer complaints

MOSCOW, 30 Sep — PRIME. Italian antitrust regulator AGCM on Friday said it was conducting an investigation into two divisions of Europe’s largest electricity company, Enel, for allegedly asking customers to pay statute-of-limited electricity bills.

According to the AGCM, on Thursday he carried out searches at the headquarters of Enel Energia and Servizio Elettrico Nazionale.

Dozens of complaints received from customers were the trigger for the review, Enel said in a statement.

“Companies believe they have always acted in full compliance with primary and industry regulations, and are confident that audits will be able to prove the fairness of their actions,” the firm added.

While the two companies in question were already fined for the same reason in 2021, Enel said it has appealed the verdict and no final decision has yet been made on the case.
