Equinor and PGNiG agree on gas supplies for ten years
MOSCOW, Sep 23 — PRIME. Norwegian Equinor and Polish PGNiG have signed a contract under which the Norwegian oil and gas company will supply the Polish company with 2.4 billion cubic meters of gas annually for 10 years, Equinor said in a press release.
“The contract is designed for 10 years with a volume of about 2.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which will be exported through the new Baltic Pipe,” the report says.
The company notes that the Baltic Pipe project connects the Norwegian gas export system to Poland via Denmark and facilitates the flow of Norwegian pipeline gas to Poland. Volumes under the new long-term agreement are equivalent to about 15% of Poland’s normal annual gas consumption. The term of the agreement is from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2033.
The Baltic Pipe project connects to the Norwegian gas transmission system, with the Danish transmission system operator (TSO) Energinet responsible for the components on Danish territory and the Polish TSO Gaz-System for the section between Denmark and Poland.
The energy group Equinor was founded in 1972, until May 2018 it was called Statoil. The company operates in more than 30 countries. The largest shareholder is Norway.
