BRUSSELS, September 30 — PRIME. EU energy ministers agreed on new measures in response to high energy prices at an extraordinary meeting on Friday. This was announced by the Czech Presidency of the EU Council.
“Ministers have reached a political agreement on measures to ease high electricity prices,” he tweeted.
Such measures include a mandatory reduction in the demand for electricity in the EU, a cap on the profits of companies that generate electricity from cheap sources, as well as a “solidarity contribution” from profits made in the fossil fuel sector.
