EU authorities noted the need to mitigate the impact of gas prices
BRUSSELS, 12 Oct – PRIME. The energy ministers of the EU states at a meeting on Wednesday agreed on the need to mitigate the impact of gas prices on the union’s electricity market, the European Commission will later submit proposals on this for official approval, Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Josef Sikela said after a ministerial meeting in Prague.
“We agreed that we need to mitigate the impact of gas prices on the electricity market. Proposals will be submitted in this regard,” he said at a press conference, which was broadcast on the EC website.
The European Commission plans to present new proposals on energy measures on October 18, ministers can discuss them on October 25. Additional ministerial meetings may be convened to agree on new measures.
