Amazon has finally unveiled the fifth-generation Kindle Paperwhite, the Kindle Paperwhite 2021, which will try to break through the crowded reader market with a number of improvements over previous fourth-generation models. However, the most important novelties come down to the special Signature Edition and the version for children.
The fifth generation Kindle Paperwhite debuted in a total of three versions
Let’s start with the standard Kindle Paperwhite 2021, which comes with a 6.8-inch display e-paper with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch. In other words, it has grown by 0.8 inches, and its frames have been slimmed down to 10.2 mm and sanded to the level of the screen itself. The backlight is provided by an adjustable set of 17 LEDs, which are 10% brighter at the maximum level. While we are at it, it is worth mentioning that in the software sphere, apart from the improved navigation, there was also a light temperature regulation or a dark mode (white text on a black background).

Amazon equipped the fifth generation Kindle Paperwhite with 8 GB of built-in mass memory and a Wi-Fi module, provided its housing with IPx8 protection, and finally powered by a battery with a life of up to 10 weeks on a single charge (with 4-hour daily sessions). Charging, in turn, is via USB-C and takes about five hours with a standard charger and 2.5 hours with a 9-watt charger.
