Filecoin project announces launch dates for test and main blockchain

Filecoin’s distributed storage network project announced that blockchain testing will begin in December and the main network will be launched next year.

Filecoin will allow users to sell unused space on the hard drives of their computers in the open market, and buyers will use it to store their data. The Filecoin test network will be launched on December 11, and the start of the main network is scheduled for March 2020.

Note that the launch of the project was delayed at least twice. Initially, the start of the test and main Filecoin networks was planned
Q2 and Q3 of 2019, respectively, then the launch was postponed to Q3 and Q4.

The developers, however, emphasized that this time the start of the project “can be postponed.”

“We are not talking about the exact launch date of the main Filecoin network, but it should take place within 1-2 quarters after the start of the test network. We will publish the exact launch date in the 1st quarter of 2020, ”said company representatives.

Recall that during the ICO in August 2017, the Filecoin project collected
a record $ 257 million. At the same time, during the ICO itself, $ 205 million worth of tokens were sold, and $ 52 million was raised during preliminary financing.
