Galaxy launches Geforce RTX 3090 Hall of Fame Limited Edition

Special editions of graphics cards specifically designed for extreme overclocking were for many years a relatively common feature in the hardware world, with companies such as Asus and MSI and its series Matrix and Lightning at the forefront. EVGA and Galax have also recently entered the game with graphics cards under the Kingpin and Hall of Fame flags, respectively, where the latter is now being expanded.

The new graphics card, Galax Geforce RTX 3090 Hall of Fame Limited Edition, is distinguished aesthetically by a white circuit board and a 4.3-inch screen named HOF Panel III that can be used independently or attached to the card with the help of magnets. The real treasure of the card, however, is its 26-phase power supply powered by three 8-pin PCI Express connectors.

Prior to the launch, Galax invited extreme overclockers, including the forum profile also the extreme overclocker @Rauf, who in a post on Facebook claims to have consumed 250 liters of liquid nitrogen during the hunt for new records. Together with the Greek overclockers OGS and Phil @ Hwbox, the three podium places in the test software 3DMark Port Royal, with graphics frequencies of 2,850–2,880 MHz, were tricked.

Furthermore, Rauf says that the cards should not have been specially selected in advance, but tested on site, where “two, maybe three of the cards can handle 3 GHz”. The heat development from the Galax RTX 3090 Hall of Fame card also appears to have been problematic despite nitrogen cooling, where “countless reassemblies” of the cooling solution are addressed – a phenomenon that during extreme overclocking is normally required when the cooling paste cannot withstand the extreme temperature fluctuations.

In-store availability and price for the Galax Geforce RTX 3090 Hall of Fame have not been announced – but availability is expected to be extremely limited, while the price tag is sniffing at the SEK 30,000 mark.
