Gas supplies via Nord Stream suspended for three days

MOSCOW, 31 Aug – PRIME. Gas supplies via Nord Stream have fallen to zero cubic meters per hour, the operation of the pipeline has been suspended for three days due to scheduled repairs at the Portovaya compressor station (CS), according to data from gas transmission network operators.

So, according to the information of the operator of the gas pipeline Opal, which receives gas from the Nord Stream, deliveries along the Baltic main line ceased from 4.00 Moscow time, as announced by Gazprom. The less powerful gas pipeline Nel stopped receiving gas even earlier, from 3.00 Moscow time.

The suspension of the Nord Stream operation is related to routine maintenance at the only working gas compressor unit (GCU) at the Portovaya CS, which will be carried out by specialists from Gazprom and Siemens. The German company, in accordance with the technical documentation, needs to service the unit every 1000 hours: inspect and clean the housing, check the safety valves and adjust the air flow control system.
