Gazprom Export explained why the US benefits from Ukrainian gas transit

SIMFEROPOL, 7 Oct – PRIME. Continued pumping of gas through Ukrainian routes is beneficial to the US and the EU due to the fact that Kyiv receives Russian money for transit, and also because gas through these pipelines only partially enters Germany, said a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences for System Research in Energy, Advisor to the General Director LLC “Gazprom Export” Andrey Konoplyanik.

In Ukraine, spoke about the cost of servicing the public debt

“The main thing is why it is not beneficial for the US and its allies to have an explosion on the Ukrainian route. We pay transit tariffs and, whether we like it or not, we reduce the financial burden of support from the US, the EU and our Ukrainian partners who are at war with us… And the second is the geography of deliveries, because gas comes to Baumgarten through the Ukrainian corridor, and then the flows split in two. Part goes through the Czech Republic to Germany and France, part goes to Italy. “Nord Stream” and “Yamal-Europe” are completely locked in Germany,” Konoplyanik said on the air of Soloviev Live.

Konoplyanik previously noted that he considers the damage to Nord Stream a sabotage committed in the interests of the United States. According to him, the main beneficiary of sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines is the United States, seeking to transfer industrial production from Germany to its territory, as well as weakening Europe, Russia and partly China.

The attacks took place on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines is unprecedented and it is impossible to estimate the repair time.

Gazprom reported on October 3 that the pressure in the damaged Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines had stabilized, gas leaks had stopped, and gas was being pumped out of another Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to check its integrity. In turn, the Swedish Coast Guard said that day that a “smaller” leak from Nord Stream 2 was continuing and even increasing slightly.
