MOSCOW, August 30 – PRIME. By the end of 2022, the German operator of the gas transmission network Gascade plans to build a line that will connect a floating terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas with the German GTS, and for its further transportation, infrastructure will be used that receives “blue fuel” from Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 “, follows from the message of the company.

“By the end of this year, the GTS operator plans to build a pipeline several hundred meters long that will connect the first floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to land as part of the Deutsche Ostsee LNG project,” Gascade writes about its plans.
The company intends to implement them together with partners Nel Gastransport GmbH and Opal Gastransport GmbH & Co. kg. All three members are owned by WIGA, a joint venture between the German Wintershall Dea and SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (formerly Gazprom Germania, a former subsidiary of Gazprom, which is now controlled by the FRG).
It is noted that the planned gas pipeline will connect a floating LNG terminal with a land station near Lubmin. Liquefied gas at the plant will be converted into a gasified state, and then it will be possible to transport it from the station in Greifswald through the Opal and Nel gas pipelines (they receive gas from Nord Stream), as well as Eugal (was intended to receive gas from Nord Stream 2 ).
The press service of Gascade commented on RIA Novosti the question of whether the use of Opal, Nel and Eugal will limit the possibility of receiving gas from Nord Stream and potentially Nord Stream 2. “No, LNG plans are another source for our system,” the company said.
“Thus, we support the government’s efforts and the public’s desire to diversify sources of supply as soon as possible,” commented Gascade and Nel Managing Director Christoph von dem Boucher. “As a result, already this winter we will be able to contribute to maintaining the energy security of Germany and Europe,” adds Andreas Wendler, Managing Director of Opal Gastransport, whose words are also given in the release.
According to Gascade, the necessary documents will soon be submitted for approval to the Stralsund Mining Authority. At the same time, the time for putting the line into operation depends on many factors, which is also specified in the release.
