Gigabyte bundles Geforce GTX Titan Black with the Windforce 3X cooler

Reference designers can be used to prevent manufacturers from developing their own solutions and further increasing performance, which risks causing confusion in AMD and Nvidia’s product families. In the case of the Geforce GTX Titan Black, no extravagance is allowed at all, but that does not prevent Taiwanese Gigabyte from exploiting a loophole in the regulations.

A new edition of the Geforce GTX Titan Black includes not only the reference-designed graphics card but also the Windforce 3X cooler, which with three fans, among other things, will be able to dissipate as much as 600 W of heat. By letting the user install the radiator himself, Gigabyte can offer extra turning space for enthusiasts and overclockers without violating the manufacturing agreement.

The graphics card normally contains the GK110 graphics processor with 2,880 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. The clock frequencies are increased from 889 and 980 MHz to 1,006 and 1,111 MHz at base and boost respectively. The memory frequency, on the other hand, remains at 7,000 MHz in the reference design.
