Gigabyte Geforce GTX 680 SOC with five fans soon on the market

Already in April, Gigabyte started showing graphics cards with the cooler Windforce 5X, where the main ingredient is no less than five fans in 40 mm. Now it turns out that the first model to hit the market with the giant cooler is the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 680 Super Overclock (SOC).

The new graphics card is based on the GK104 graphics processor with 1,536 CUDA cores, 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and a 256-bit memory bus. To justify the name Super Overclock, the graphics processor’s clock frequency is increased to 1,137 / 1,202 MHz (base / boost) and the memories to 6,200 MHz. It can be compared with the reference models 1,006 and 6,008 MHz, respectively.

The radiator itself is a really large model that takes up two extra slots, a total of three in number. Five 40 mm fans suck up the air through tight aluminum flanges, which in turn are connected to a steam chamber by means of copper heat pipes. The construction is covered by a protective shell in metal.

More details are extra durable components according to Ultra Durable VGA +, including Japanese capacitors and NEC Proadlizers, the ability to switch between BIOS versions (standard / overclocking) with a button on the circuit board and the included overclocking software OC Guru II. Connections are offered in the form of two DVIs, HDMI and Displayport.

The Gigabyte Geforce GTX 680 SOC will be on the market later in August. Some price information is not yet known, but it is probably several hundred bucks up from the existing OC model, which currently costs around SEK 4,700 including VAT.
