Gigabyte shows its X670E and X670 motherboards and we know their prices

This past week we learned about the Gigabyte motherboards for the new AMD Ryzen 7000 processors with the X670E and X670 chipset.

The line that Gigabyte presented includes three AORUS and one AERO. The motherboards show that they are X670, but they appear to be early designs prior to the AMD X670E specification update.

On the one hand we have the X670E AORUS Xtreme, it would be the top of the range, followed by the X670E Master and the X670 AORUS PRO AX. There is also the only X670(E) AERO D motherboard in Gigabyte’s portfolio. Please note that these are just the initial models of Gigabyte motherboards and they are the ones that were shown at Computex 2022. There will be several other motherboards from each manufacturer that have not yet been revealed.

Gigabyte X670E AORUS Xtreme motherboard: It will cost between 500 to 600 dollars in the USA.

The Gigabyte X670E AORUS Xtreme will be the top of the range in what is AM5 from the manufacturer, with the LGA 1718 socket and a power delivery with 18 phases (105A) that will deliver all the power to AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs. The motherboard features dual 8-pin connectors and one 24-pin ATX, while around the socket are four DDR5 memory slots that feature EXPO (Ryzen Extended Support) support. Profiles For Overclocking) and will support capacities up to 128GB.

In terms of connection, the motherboard is equipped with three PCIe x16 slots (1x Gen 5 x8, 2x Gen 4 x 4) and one PCIe Gen 5.0 for an M.2 SSD. The large number of Gen 5 M.2 slots reduces PCIe bandwidth to just x8 lanes, but still provides the same amount of bandwidth as a PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 interface.

The motherboard comes with 6 SATA III ports, large aluminum fins covering the VRMs, and a heatsink for the M.2 slots plus the PCH. There’s also a Marvell AQC113C chip with a PCIe 4.0 interface for 10GbE Ethernet LAN along with an array of buttons, Q-Flash Plus, and Clear CMOS. There are at least 10 USB Gen 2 ports plus HDMI/DP ports for the RDNA 2 iGPU.

The Gigabyte X670E AORUS Master Motherboard will cost around $400 to $360 in the US.

Moving on to the Gigabyte X670E AORUS Master, this is one of the high-end motherboards, which seems to be one of the best options if you are looking at $350 and below. Power VRM is 16+2+2 (105A) powered by dual 8-pin connectors. An aluminum heatsink covers the VRMs, and like the Xtreme, the motherboard comes in an E-ATX form factor.

In terms of connections, the motherboard is equipped with three PCIe x16 slots (1x Gen 5 x16, 2x Gen 4 x 4) and a total of three PCIe Gen 5.0 slots for M.2 SSDs. Storage options include six SATA III ports and the aesthetic looks better than ever with a more industrial approach this time with a black and metallic finish on the heat sinks. There are 12 USB ports (10 Gen 2) on the back along with a 2.5GbE Ethernet LAN connector.

Gigabyte X670 AORUS PRO AX – Will cost around $350 to $300

The Gigabyte X670 AORUS PRO AX motherboard is the stepper of the X670 family and is priced around 300-350 USD. The motherboard will feature a 16+2+2 (90A) VRM powered by a dual 8-pin connector design. Unlike the other two high-end options that feature a finned heatsink design, the PRO AX comes with a standard aluminum heatsink that still provides full coverage for cooling.

The motherboard is equipped with three PCIe x16 slots (1x Gen 4 x16, 1x Gen 4 x4, 1x Gen 3 x4) and a total of four PCIe M.2 slots, of which one is compatible with Gen 5 and the rest are Gen 4. We also have 6 USB Gen 2 ports and four USB 3.0 ports, a single 2.5GbE LAN port, and two USB Type-C ports (1x Gen 2×2, 1x Gen 2).

The Gigabyte X670(E) AERO D motherboard: has an industrial design and will cost $400

Lastly, there is the Gigabyte X670(E) AERO D motherboard, which should be slightly above US$400. It has many similarities with AORUS Master, but swaps a Gen 5 M.2 slot with ASMedia ASM4242 USB4 host controller which provides two USB 4 ports on the back plate.

We can see two X670 (E) chipsets located just below the circuit board for the DDR5 memory modules. These are two independent chips instead of just one stacked together. Cooling is provided by the heat sink which has a thick aluminum body. It is a very robust motherboard.

The Gigabyte and AORUS 600 series motherboard lineup is expected to launch in a few months alongside AMD’s Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs.
