MOSCOW, 1 Sep — PRIME. Rafael Grossi, after his visit to the Zaporozhye NPP, said that there is still a lot of work ahead, and the IAEA will maintain a permanent presence at the nuclear power plant.
“Of course, there is still a lot to be done. My team remains. And most importantly, we will organize a permanent presence here from the IAEA,” Grossi said in a video posted on his Twitter microblog.
In the caption to the video, Grossi assured that “the IAEA remains and will maintain a permanent presence at the ZNPP.”
“Some colleagues remain, because there are still quite a lot of more detailed issues, issues that require more time for discussion and a calmer situation. And I ask you to help my colleagues so that we can more fully assess the whole situation,” the head of the IAEA said.
On Monday, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that the organization’s mission is heading to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and will arrive at the site this week. Mikhail Ulyanov, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna, reported to RIA Novosti that the mission includes about a dozen employees of the IAEA secretariat who deal with issues of safeguards and nuclear safety. They are accompanied by a large team of UN staff dealing with logistics and security issues.
