Those planning to upgrade ahead of this fall’s major titles can look forward to a new generation of graphics cards from AMD just in time for the launch of Battlefield 4. It’s about the flagship Hawaii along with a number of newcomers in the Radeon R200 series, consisting of both new and familiar graphics processors.

Partner manufacturer HIS slips on the publish button and reveals some of the model names for the new generation Radeon. These are seven models, by all accounts with existing graphics processors from the Graphics Core Next generation.
This means that the Radeon R9-280X will probably include the Tahiti graphics processor, which is used in today’s Radeon HD 7900 series. Then comes a series of models in the R7 series with graphics cards in budget and middle class, also here very similar to corresponding models from the 7000 series.
Instead, the big news is delivered by the Radeon R9-290 and R9-290X, two performance-oriented newcomers with the renowned graphics processor Hawaii. However, these are not visible at HIS, which reinforces the suspicions that today’s leak is about models with existing graphics processors, or alternatively pin-compatible ones – which are already in production.
