How to Add Accounts to the Restriction List on Facebook | Improve Privacy

Many of us already know Facebook, that entertaining social network in which many of us communicate, meet people to establish a chat or see their posts and even offers us the option of market products, and much more.

Given the breadth of Facebook to shorten distances and the multitude of users that it has, it is very likely that we will also find people that we do not like and we do not want them to see the publications that we make in our account.

If in your list you have your bosses, parents, acquaintances or any other person with whom you are not comfortable sharing your publications in groups, those that you have in your list of contacts by mere commitment, but you cannot delete or block them.

Facebook offers you a friendly option so that they do not find out what you do in this social network. Perhaps many do not know all the functions of this important network, but what is true is that with a good configuration you can feel free to make the publications you like, without remorse.

What happens when you add a profile to your Facebook restriction list?

By adding an account to the restriction list, it is as the word says, will be restricted from your account. That is, it will continue to be in your contact list, but it will not see your publications or the activity you carry out on the social network.

In this way your publications, photos, contact information, comments, etc, will not be visible to the account that you have restricted. And best of all, you won’t have to delete or block that account so that they do not see your posts and information, this means that they will still be friends on Facebook.

What data is visible to people with restricted access?

But not everything will be hidden for that account, they can still be friends and the information you post will not be visible, as long as your posts are not public. In case you make a publication and it is public, everyone will have access to it.

For the restriction to take effect, you need to configure the posts, since if they remain public there will be no way to hide them and therefore the restricted account will also be able to see your updates.

Another point to clarify is that those old posts and the current ones in which you tag that account will be visible to both parties. So if you restrict someone, but tag them in a post, that person will see it too, since you’re still friends and being tagged will get you a notification.

Does the person who is on the Facebook restriction list find out?

The answer to this question may worry you, but we can tell you that there is nothing to worry about, the platform does not reveal the list in which you added that contact, so you can feel free to add anyone you want to restriction.

For the purposes that account belongs to your contacts, but cannot view your wall nor will what you post appear in their feed unless you publish it as public.

How to add a profile to the restriction list of this social network?

At first, many classified Facebook as a platform where nothing could be kept private, it is likely that those who have created such a reputation for it are not exactly aware of the privacy features that the application offers.

There are two ways to add to the organization and restriction list. For some of your contacts, like many of the procedures on Facebook, it is very simple and will only take a few minutes.

From the person’s profile

If you’ve decided to restrict an account, you can do so from the person’s profile to make sure you’re adding the correct account to the list. Just follow these steps:

  • Go to account profile
  • Click the Friends button at the top of their profile
  • Choose from the menu Edit friends list
  • Then click on With restricted access.

Ready! From now on that account will not know your posts in their feed, unless they are configured as public.

Entering the Facebook settings

Another way to restrict an account is by configuring the account, it is also a simple process, although personally, it seems to me that it is still the most practical from the person’s profile. Configure who can see your postsWhether or not it’s a known account, you can set certain people not to be able to access certain content you post.

Make a publication as you normally do, but before confirming, check to which audience you will be projecting it. From the news section or from your profile click on: What are you thinking?, add the content you prefer, it can be a status, a video or a photo.

Then go under your name and click on the public selector, when performing this action several options will be displayed so that you can adjust if your publication can be seen by everyone, by your friends and you can even make the exception with any contact on your list, or well, take the option that only you can see it.

It should be noted that this setting is not final, you can change or check the list of restrictions as many times as you want. If you want to modify the list or verify the contacts that are restricted in your account, you must follow these steps:

  • In the left menu of the news section, go to the friends list. In case you do not see the option, click on the triangle, or See more
  • You will find several tabs, you must enter with restricted access so you can see the contacts that are added.
  • Then you have to click on Manage list in the upper right corner
  • Choose Edit List
  • If you want to remove someone from restrictions, just press the X at the top of the contact’s profile picture
  • Finally, click Finish
