How to create a custom map on Google Maps – Easy Steps

How to create a custom map on Google Maps

Google Maps offers detailed, detailed and precise directions to get anywhere. You can get directions by walking, driving, or cycling. They are updated as you go, and if you change your route, the directions will automatically update from your current location.

Google Custom Maps

Google Maps will give you multiple routes when looking for directions. They take you from your current location to a particular destination. Different routes will have different arrival times and will be listed. You can choose.

If you want to create a custom map on Google Maps, that is, a map that basically guides you or someone else through checkpoints or places to get to a destination, you can create one with pins.

Create custom Google maps

To create a custom map on Google Maps, you must use the web version of Google Maps. The iOS and Android apps do not have this feature.

  1. Open Google Maps in your desktop browser (any browser will do).
  2. Sign in with your Google account.
  3. Click Create a new map.
  4. Give the map a custom name so you know what it’s for.
  5. Rename the layer.
  6. Navigate to where you would like to create the map.
  7. Click on the point icon and click on the map where you would like to place it.
  8. Add a description of the point and rename the point.
  9. Continue adding points until the map is complete.
  10. Click the Preview button to see what it looks like.
  11. When you’re ready, click the Share button and share the map.

Editing the map

You can change the points on the map whenever you want. When you share it, you have the option to allow anyone who has a link to the map to edit it as well. If you are making plans with friends, it is a great tool to allow everyone to add something to the map. The only downside is that they will only be able to edit the map on a desktop.

conclusion

Custom maps are private by default and there is nothing forcing you to share them. If you want to bookmark places you’ve been or want to revisit, it’s a useful tool. If you find the route that Google Maps gives you for a particular place, you can create a map that best suits you and retrieve it when you need it. These maps cannot be created in the mobile apps, but can be easily viewed in them so you have access to them on the go.
