How to enable dark mode for iPhone in iOS 15 – Easy Steps

How to enable dark mode for iPhone in iOS 15

Dark mode was added to iOS a few years ago and has been a popular addition to the operating system. Most of the apps have added a compatible dark mode that users see if they turn it on. When enabled, dark mode will update on all stock apps and all third-party apps that support it. Some apps give users the option to use the same mode i.e. dark or light that iOS uses or set it independently of iOS.

Dark Mode for iPhone on iOS 15

Dark mode is available on all iPhone models that can run iOS 13 or later. If your iPhone is running iOS 15, it also has dark mode. Once powered on, all apps that support it will display a dark user interface.

Enable Dark Mode for iPhone in iOS 15

Dark mode is available on all iPhone models starting with iPhone 6S and later. It is also available on iPad. Here’s how you can enable it.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Display & brightness.
  3. At the top, you will see an Appearance section. Select Dark.
  4. Dark mode will be enabled.

Auto dark mode

Dark mode is best for the night, but changing it every day, depending on the time of day, is tedious. This is why iOS has a built-in option to schedule when dark mode is enabled.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Display & brightness.
  3. Enable the circuit breaker.
  4. Tap Options below it.
  5. Select ‘Sunset to sunrise’ and the dark mode will be enabled after sunset and disabled after sunrise.
  6. Select Custom Schedule and you can select any time of day for dark mode to be enabled and disabled automatically.

Note: Apps that switch to dark or light mode depending on the selected mode in iOS will also switch according to the schedule that has been set. Apps that have separate iOS settings will not switch modes as scheduled.

conclusion

Dark mode is now quite a common feature on all major desktop and mobile operating systems. Dark mode on iOS is one of the best executions of the feature. It does not change to a full black, but instead uses a darker gray. The text, while white, is not blinding, and most importantly, it is easy to read. Dark mode will not give you a black and white user interface. You will still see a lot of color in all applications, but the white backgrounds will be removed so as not to blind the user when the light is low in the room.
