How to enable developer options on Android

If you want more control over your Android device but don’t know where to start, we suggest checking out Android’s built-in developer options. The setup contains several items for trained professionals. Don’t change anything you’re not sure about, and remember to write down the default settings, so you can go back in case something goes wrong. Here’s how to enable Developer Options on Android.

Why should I enable Developer Options on Android?

Developer options are a collection of tools and settings designed to help an application developer optimize their products and find bugs. For example, the Pointer Location option provides an accurate reading of user input. While this is great for a developer who needs to understand touch location and movement, the overlay is unusable for your everyday computing.

If you’re willing to do some tweaking, there are some great features available for advanced users. One can drill down into CPU and RAM processes, limit background processes, force apps into split-screen mode, access advanced restart options, simulate or hide notches, speed up or slow down animations, and more. Development is also an essential process for those who love to root and install custom ROMs.

How to enable developer options

To enable Developer Options, go to Settings > About phone and repeatedly press the  build number until you see a pop-up indicating that you are now a developer. You may need to go to  About phone > Software information to find the build number on some phones.
