How to Manage Favorite Contacts on iPhone

This article explains how to add Favorites to iPhone from the Contacts app or the Phone app and edit or rearrange your Favorites list on iPhone models running iOS 10 or later.

How to Add Favorites on iPhone

The pre-installed iPhone Phone app makes it easy to call and text the people you talk to the most by putting them in your favourites. When a person is a favorite, just tap the person’s name to immediately start a phone call or FaceTime, or open a new text message or email.

1. Open the app Telephone.

2. Press favoritesat the bottom of the screen.

3. Press +above.

4. Choose the contact you want to add to the favorites list. You can find them by searching, scrolling, or tapping on a letter on the right side of the screen.

5. Decide what type of communication you want to prioritize: Message,ON Call,ON Video Where ME-Email. If the person has multiple details for a category (such as two phone numbers), tap the arrow to choose a specific one.

Grades: The options you see in this menu depend on the type of contact information you added for this person.

6. After adding the favorite, you will return to the screen favorites and see the new favorite in the list with the contact type just below their name.

How to reorder favorites on iPhone

You can change the order of your favorite contacts from the Phone app by following these steps:

1. Press favorites at the bottom of the Phone app.

2. Press Editabove.

3. Locate the favorite contact you want to rearrange, then press and hold the three-line button on the right to enter it. Without letting go, drag the contact up or down in the list. Take your finger off the screen to place the contact in the new desired order.

4. Press Done to save changes.

If you have an iPhone 6S or newer, you can also view your favorites by long-pressing the Phone app. The first contacts in your favorites list are included in this popup. Rearrange favorites as described in the last section to choose which ones appear in the context menu.

How to remove favorites on iPhone

You can remove a contact from the favorites list to make room for others or clear the list. Removing someone from your favorites list is simple: touch Edit on the Favorites screen, press the buttonred icon with the line, then press the button Get rid of.

If you want to remove the contact from iPhone completely, rather than just from the favorites list, you will need to remove the contact from your iPhone.
