How to REMOVE Google bar on Android

That white search box that is on the home screen and allows you to enter text to search Google, is sometimes a widget It can be removed by holding down on it and then “dragging” it or by choosing the “Delete” option that should appear. This is the case of the series «Motorcycle»From Motorola.

Unfortunately, on many cell phones this bar is “stuck” or integrated into the home screen and cannot be removed as indicated. In this case, it is part of the “launcher” application or phone launcher and to eliminate that bar the only possible way is to change the launcher.

Remove the Google bar on Moto G5 and any generation, when it is a widget

Launcher sin barra Google

Keep in mind that the launcher is the home screen and application drawer of your cell phone. By changing it, you will be abandoning your current configuration of both aspects, although some launchers offer the option to import the data from your old launcher.

I personally recommend Install Nova Launcher. It is one of the best, fastest and most complete launchers that exist.

After installing the launcher, you will have to set it as the default. Just tap on the device’s home button, choose “Nova Launcher” and tap on the “Always” button.

This launcher will let you remove the Google bar by holding down on it. It even offers custom Google bar layouts, in case there are any that convince you to keep the bar.

If you don’t like Nova Launcher, there are other alternative launcher applications that will also let you remove the Google bar.

In old devices that had the Google bar anchored on the home screen, it was also possible to remove it by deactivating the “Google” application (or “Google Search”) and keeping the same launcher. In modern cell phones deactivating this app is no longer possible.

Normally, the Google search bar is a widget and you just have to add it as such from the widget screen (which is usually accessed by long pressing on an empty area of the home screen). Here you can find multiple Google bars, including the one for the Google application and the Chrome browser. Each one has its own particular advantages.
