Huawei antennas in the Swiss 5G network. It is a unique structure

Swiss operator Sunrise UPC will use Huawei antennas to build a 5G network. The choice is not accidental, because it is about the unique design of the BladeAAU Pro antennas.

Huawei BladeAAU Pro antennas, or one antenna to connect everyone

The Huawei BladeAAU Pro antennas are a very interesting design that should be appreciated not only by telecommunications enthusiasts. Cellular network base stations often consist of several systems, ie a separate antenna for the GSM network, separate for 3G, separate for 5G, etc. Blade antennas are a modular structure. In simple terms, we have a post, inside which you can insert various systems and modify them as you like. Additionally, there are active and passion modules in yanten. Thanks to this, if we want to add 5G network support to the LTE transmitter, it is enough to replace its interior, instead of expanding the entire mast with additional antennas.

In June 2021, the Huawei BladeAAU Pro antennas won the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award, and were officially presented for the first time in October 2020. I had the opportunity to see another, similar solution in Poland in 2020. The Single-pole Deployment 32T32R antenna is a typical modular design, in which, for example, to add an LTE antenna to a 5G network antenna, it is enough to attach another module to it. As in the photo below. But such a solution would not work with Swiss regulations, which can significantly delay the modernization and expansion of the network.

The Huawei BladeAAU Pro antennas look like the perfect solution for Switzerland

Due to the fact that in Switzerland most of the base stations are located on single masts, the modular designs of the Huawei BladeAAU Pro are the simplest solution. The Sunrise UPC operator can thus maintain the current locations of its 2G, 3G and 4G transmitters, quickly adding 5G network support to them.

If the modernization involved the replacement or classic modernization of base stations, the entire process may take from a month to even three years. This is because if the new antennas take up more space than the previous ones, a building permit is required. Using the Huawei BladeAAU Pro antenna, its size does not change, only the interior is changed.

With the dynamic development of 5G around the world, we are slowly entering unknown territory. Huawei strives to provide innovative products and solutions for global operators to meet the challenges facing business and discover more opportunities to develop innovative applications of next-generation networks

– said Wang Haito, president of Huawei in Switzerland.
