Huawei presents the Kirin 980 processor

As expected, during the IFA 2018, Huawei presented the Kirin 980 processor. It has a dual dedicated NPU processor, which is responsible for AI support.

The new design is characterized by high efficiency. Compared to its predecessor, it increased by 20%. Also worth mentioning is energy efficiency, which improved by 40%. The Kirin 980 is supported by the Mali-G76 graphics processor and the LTE category 21 model. The processor has 6.9 billion transistors per 1 square centimeter – 1.6 times more than the previous generation. The Kirin 980 is based on Cortex-A76 cores, which are 75% more efficient and 58% more energy efficient than their predecessors. The dual NPU processor recognizes up to 4,500 ipm, which is 120% more than the 970 model. It also provides 46% more data throughput.

The new CPU will definitely be in the flagships that should be presented soon. It promises to be great and thanks to it Hauwei can try to conquer the market. Of course, unless the competition presents something as efficient.
