BERLIN, Sep 5 – PRIME. Germany has prepared to overcome the winter period regardless of Russian gas supplies, said German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit.
“We are well prepared to survive the winter, regardless of whether we in Germany receive gas from Russia and in what quantities,” he told reporters.
The representative of the Cabinet recalled that Germany filled its underground gas storage facilities 85% ahead of schedule. In addition, he pointed out, Germany can receive fuel from other suppliers.
Hebeshtreit emphasized that winter preparedness does not exclude a number of difficult tasks that the German authorities are facing. “Yes, we have tough months ahead of us,” he said.
The representative of the Cabinet of Ministers also said that the German government was always ready to cut off fuel supplies from Russia and the suspension of pumping through the Nord Stream did not come as a surprise to them.
