Packaging and delivery set

The eye-catching and colorful packaging is an integral part of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC graphics card. The manufacturer focuses on the dual-slot design and factory overclocking of the graphics adapter.

The back of the box details the architectural features of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC.

The RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC package includes a guide on the required power supply, as well as a customer appreciation card.

Appearance and features

The RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC graphics card definitely impresses with its appearance, namely strict execution and the complete absence of LED backlighting. If I may put it that way, this graphics adapter is a kind of answer for those who have always asked for something simpler and more modest. The severity and style of this video card is given, first of all, by the metal casing of the cooling system and three large 90 mm fans.

The dimensions of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC are 300 x 112 x 40 mm in length, height and thickness, respectively. This graphics card is indeed dual-slot, which is incredible considering the 350W power consumption.

However, you shouldn’t worry too much about overheating of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC. Almost the entire thickness of the video card is a massive cooling system with dense fins. And the CO casing is designed in such a way that the printed circuit board of the video card is freely ventilated.

Since the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC PCB is noticeably shorter than the cooling system, there is a through-blown heatsink for the third fan. For this, technological holes are made in the backplate of the video card, which also serve to decorate the appearance of the graphics adapter.

Additional power to the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC is started via two 8-pin connectors, which in theory allows you to count on a power consumption limit of 375 watts. However, at the BIOS level, this value is limited to 350 watts.

The RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC has one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4a for displaying images. Using these ports, the user can connect up to 4 monitors.

Cooling system

As mentioned earlier, the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC’s dual-slot cooling system is responsible for 350W of heat dissipation. Therefore, the design of the radiator of this video card is thought out to the smallest detail. In particular, cooling is provided for the GDDR6X memory chips and the VRM zone of the graphics adapter. From them, as well as from the GPU crystal, heat is removed to a three-section radiator with seven heat pipes.

The metal plate of the video card is also involved in cooling. Part of the heat from the rear side of the PCB is removed to it from the area where memory chips and power elements of the power supply circuits are located.

Printed circuit board

As for the PCB RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC itself, it is made in black. It is characterized by a dense arrangement of the element base and neat installation of components. At the center of the PCB is the Ampere GA102-225-A1 GPU, around which 12 12GB GDDR6X memory chips are concentrated. The memory communicates with the GPU over a 384-bit bus.

The back side of the PCB has the same dense arrangement of the element base. Here, the manufacturer has placed a part of the power harness in the person of PWM controllers.

The power supply of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC video card is organized in a 17-phase scheme, where 14 phases are intended for the GPU and 3 more for the memory chips. GPU and MEM power management is handled by three uP9511R PWM controllers from uPI Semiconductor.

Proprietary software

INNO3D offers proprietary software TuneIT, with which the user can overclock the video card and adjust the operation of the cooling system of the graphics accelerator.

Also, this program will help you simply and easily update the BIOS of a video card, in case of new firmware releases.

I have installed an RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC graphics card in a computer based on an Intel Core i7-11700k processor and a Gigabyte Z590i Aorus Ultra motherboard. I used a pair of G.Skill Trident Z Royal DDR4-4266 modules as RAM, setting them to DDR4-3600 frequency with 14-14-14-34-1T timings.

Temperatures, noise, power consumption and overclocking

First of all, I installed the GPU-Z program and looked at the technical specifications of the graphics adapter under test. According to the BIOS firmware, the allowed power consumption limit of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC is 350W. This can interfere with serious overclocking of the video card, but let’s not think ahead.

First, I evaluated how the video card cooling system works when the computer is idle. Without any load, the fans of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC completely stop, putting the graphics card into passive cooling mode. At the same time, the GPU and MEM temperatures remain very comfortable, 40 ℃ and 44 ℃, respectively.

Warming up the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC with Furmark gave a very good assessment of the dual-slot cooling system of this graphics adapter. The GPU heats up to 79 ℃, and the GDDR6X memory chips up to 84 ℃. At the same time, the CO fans spun up to 2300 rpm, creating a noise within 41 dBA at a distance of 30 cm.

Realizing that the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC would not be able to increase the power limit, I made a modest attempt at overclocking the graphics adapter with an emphasis on memory. As a result, without losing stability, the GPU slider was moved by +40 points, and the memory by +1400.

Running the Furmark stress test again and warming up the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC with it, I saw that the GPU temperature remained at the same 79 ℃, but the temperature of the GDDR6X memory chips increased to 86 ℃. At the same time, the cooling system of the video card remained operating at approximately the same fan speed – 2350 rpm. Once again measuring the noise from the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC from a distance of 30 cm, I recorded a maximum of 41.5 dBA.

Gaming performance

To evaluate the gaming performance of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC, we used the 3D Mark graphics package, which includes technology scenes with various APIs. In a series of Fire Strike benchmarks with DirectX11, the video card showed good results.

A couple of Time Spy tests with DirectX12 did not put the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC a serious test, again rating the graphics accelerator very high on its own rating.

Ray tracing technology, in which NVIDIA video cards are traditionally at very high positions, is present in the Port Royal benchmark. In it, the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC was able to score almost 13,000 points.

In order to understand how much the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC was affected by the 350W power limit, I compared the performance of this card with the more advanced RTX 3080 Ti from Palit with a TDP of 440W. The difference in performance turned out to be insignificant, although not in favor of the accelerator from INNO3D.

I also tested the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC in games using the popular FullHD, 2K and 4K resolutions. With the ultra-graphics settings, the video card under test held up well against the more expensive Palit GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Gamerock OC.

As for the overall performance of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC, it turned out to be at a very high level. With this video card, you can safely play in 4K even at the highest graphics settings.

Conclusion

INNO3D GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC – a noteworthy video card that has an effective cooling system and high performance in games. This graphics adapter has several bold solutions at once, namely a dual-slot design and a complete rejection of RGB backlighting. The latter allowed not only to reduce the total cost of the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC, but also to please those who like stylish and strict assemblies. As for the dual-slot cooling system, its efficiency turned out to be sufficient due to the modest power consumption limit of 350 watts. Of course, this will not allow us to hope for a serious accelerator overclocking, but even with the frequencies “out of the box”, the INNO3D GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC video card is capable of 4K gaming at ultra settings.

Pros:

  • austere and brutal look without RGB backlighting;
  • Rare RTX 3080 Ti Dual-Slot
  • efficient cooling system with seven heat pipes;
  • metal backplate with thermal pads for cooling memory and VRM;
  • excellent gaming performance even at 4K resolution.

Minuses:

  • the power consumption limit is “locked” at 350 W;
  • difficult to find in free sale due to high demand.
