Intel Comet Lake-S CPUs: first temperature tests questionable

Intel Core i9-10980HK: new rumors about the top of the range Intel processor

Desktop processors Intel Core 10th gen "Comet Lake-S" are expected to debut later this month, following the recent launch of the Core-H mobile variants announced on April 2. In recent weeks there has been a lot of talk about these CPUs which, like notebook models, will be characterized by very high clock frequencies (over 5 GHz) and architecture up to 10 cores / 20 threads.

Given the imminent presentation, Intel testers begin to leak some details on the new models which, according to the first information available, could be characterized by decidedly high operating temperatures.

According to reports Guru3D, this "problem", if it can be so defined, concerns the high end models and in particular the Core i9-10900 (K, F and KF); in detail, a screenshot of the Core i9-10900F which under stress-test reaches a temperature of 93 ° C.

At the moment it is not clear what type of heatsink was used for this test, we are talking about a result obtained with a standard heatsink, while the situation should improve if a liquid system is used. Last but not least, consumption; always according to what reported, some testers would have confirmed that the PL1 (Power Level 1) value of this CPU is 170W, while PL2 would touch 224W.

Intel Comet Lake-S processors are expected to officially debut on April 30, while the first reviews will have to wait almost a month (May 27).
