Intel Core 10th gen official H series: all the features of notebook CPUs

Intel presents today i Core 10th gen H series notebook processors, a new CPU line that aims to take laptop performance to a new level, directly challenging recent proposals AMD Ryzen 4000, driven by the top of the range Ryzen 9 4900H.

The Core 10a gen H series processors, better known with a code name Comet Lake-H, they use a 14nm production process, a technology that has now reached its final stage – if for no other reason than the 7nm solutions of the competitor AMD – but so optimized by the company as to allow clock frequencies never seen before on this type of processor.

A distinctive feature of the Intel Core H 10th gen are precisely the operating frequencies pushed to the limit, values that in the top model they even touch 5.3 GHz in Boost mode. Intel then introduces new technologies and optimizations that take the notebook platform to a higher level, meeting not only the growing needs of gamers but also those of content creators.

The Core 10th gen H series line consists of 6 new models articulated from the cheaper Core i5 up to the more powerful Core i9; as many as four of the six models proposed reach or exceed the 5 GHz threshold in Boost mode:

It is clear that such high frequencies favor the gaming experience, allowing you to make the most of the recent dedicated GPUs (see the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 SUPER Mobile) and ensuring a net increase in FPS compared to previous generation laptops.

Intel points out that this new generation of processors delivers performance comparable to desktop systems, offering the benchmark as a benchmark Core i9-10980HK, CPU that aligns with the most powerful consumer desktop solutions currently in the Intel list. The chip's TDP, as well as that of the entire range, is set to 45Whowever, the manufacturer did not focus much on consumption and on the influence of possible usage scenarios that will be seen with the field tests.

In addition to new Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 technology, this model, as well as the three Core i7 10th gen variants, supports the new technology Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, a feature that the company has not explored for the moment but which, as the name suggests, should be linked to the maximum frequency that can be reached in relation to the design of the notebook, the dissipation system and the operating temperatures.

The innovations of the Intel Core-H 10th gen do not end here: the platform supports new features for overclocking and simplified tuning, introducing, among other things, support for 2933 MHz DDR4 memories with a capacity that reaches 128GB. On the expansion / connectivity side, the presence of 40 PCIe 3.0 lines, Thunderbolt 3 is WiFi 6 with Intel AX201. Intel has not talked about integrated graphics which, probably, should be the already tested UHD 630.

The first laptops with Intel Core H 10th gen processors should arrive on the market shortly, according to what Intel claims there will be over 30 notebook models with compact design and thickness under 20mm; many innovations will also arrive for the creator market with partners such as ASUS, ACER, DELL, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Razer.
