Intel hires Radeon Lead Architect to work on its Arc GPUs

Talent exodus is totally common in this hardware industry, and today we have another case of the exodus of a key member of a team, in this case, from AMD to Intel. We are talking about the transfer of Rohit Verma, former Radeon Discrete GPU Lead Architect at AMD, who has just joined Raja Koduri’s team at Intel.

Verma worked for 9 years at AMD and held multiple roles in the discrete GPU and custom SOC department, bringing a wealth of experience to the blue team, which is clearly serious about entering this market. He had previously worked for 13 years at Intel, so he is already familiar with the blue company, and in fact shared teams with Pat Gelsinger, the current CEO of Intel.

Going forward, Verma will serve as the Lead Product Architect for Discrete GPU SOCs at Intel, working on all types of chips that carry discrete GPUs, and continuing the ongoing expansion of Raja Koduri’s team in the graphics department. and custom SOCs. It will be interesting to see where he comes out of this team’s work, and whether Intel ends up positioning itself as a strong competitor in this market long shared only by AMD and Nvidia.
