Intel plans to release one generation of Arc GPUs per year, Druid coming in 2025

Intel will release its first generation Arc GPUs codenamed “Alchemist” in 2022, and it appears that it plans to release a new series every year as it does with its CPUs, as the fourth generation codenamed “Druid” will arrive in 2025. .

The information comes from Bryce, the person in charge of communicating with the community of the Intel GPU area, who mentioned that Druid will arrive in 2025, and for that to happen Battlemage would have to arrive in 2023 and Celestial in 2024, having precisely this annual schedule.

It will be interesting to see if this annual release schedule allows Intel to get to market faster than with a biannual schedule like Nvidia’s, as they will be able to iterate faster on weaknesses against more experienced companies in the market and thus catch up. on par faster against AMD and Nvidia.

Recall that the first generation of Arc GPUs will have support for DX12 Ultimate, including Ray-Tracing, Variable Shading Rate, Mesh Shading, and more, in addition to its XeSS artificial intelligence rescaling technology, so they will already come quite complete, Although in terms of performance, its superior model will only reach an RTX 3060 Ti or an RTX 3070 so they will not yet be up to the top of the line models from AMD and Nvidia such as the RX 6900 XT and RTX 3090 respectively, although anyway the best-selling segments are from the RTX 3070 and below, so Intel’s market share could still be quite good.

Intel is sure to reveal more about its plans in the GPU segment when it unveils its Arc Alchemist GPUs at CES 2022 in early January, so stay tuned to HD Technology for all the news.

What do you think about Intel’s plans in the area of GPUs? Is it okay for you to launch one generation of Arc GPUs a year?
