Intel prepares Alder Lake-HX, CPUs with up to 16 cores and 24 threads for laptops

Intel recently released its Alder Lake-H laptop CPUs, equipped with up to 6 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores for a total of 14 cores and 20 threads, though apparently that wasn’t enough for the blue company, which now he will go for more with his Alder Lake-HX.

Like the desktop Alder Lake-S, the new Alder Lake-HX series will have configurations of up to 16 cores and 24 threads thanks to the combination of 8 high-performance cores plus 8 high-efficiency cores. The difference will be that they will have much lower power limits, having a power limit of 55W at base frequency and possibly 125W at boost frequency, which is quite a bit, although it will also allow very high performance to be achieved.

So far it is not clear how many Alder Lake-HX CPUs we will see, although the leaker 9550pro mentioned that the top model will be called i9-12980HX, which is not surprising given the nomenclature of previous generations. Perhaps we will also see some other i7, although it is not clear yet. It is also not clear when we will see them, although it is still interesting to know that they are on the way.
