Intel reports 16 new vulnerabilities, just days after saying they had fewer vulnerabilities than AMD

Last week Intel announced that during 2021 fewer vulnerabilities were detected in its processors than in AMD’s, something that seems not to be the case in 2022 since Intel started it with no less than 16 published vulnerabilities.

As revealed in Intel’s security bulletin, these 16 vulnerabilities allow attackers to use Denial of Service and Privilege Escalation attacks by gaining local access, and bypass operating system security measures to take complete control of our system.

Affected processors include all 6th Gen Intel Core. to 11 ma. Generation, and the Xeons that use those same architectures. Patches that fix these vulnerabilities have not yet been released, although Intel mentioned that it is already working on corresponding firmware updates.

As we mentioned earlier, exploiting these vulnerabilities requires local access so it is very unlikely that your PC could be attacked using these methods, and therefore you have nothing to worry about. Still, if you’re concerned, stay tuned and update your BIOS when Intel releases the appropriate updates.
