Intel says that during 2021 AMD CPUs had more vulnerabilities than theirs

Intel had a lot of problems with vulnerabilities in recent years, although now in its 2021 Security Report the company claims that it has managed to significantly reduce its number of vulnerabilities, and in fact fell behind AMD in the number of discovered CPU vulnerabilities.

According to the chart shared by Intel, during 2021, 16 vulnerabilities were discovered in its CPUs, while AMD discovered almost twice as many, with a total of 31 vulnerabilities discovered. Of those 16, 10 were discovered by internal Intel researchers, while 6 were discovered through its bounty program.

On the graphics side, Intel had 51 vulnerabilities compared to AMD’s 27, which apparently leaves the company in a very bad position in this sector. However, 23 of these vulnerabilities were actually found in Kaby Lake-G CPUs with Radeon RX Vega M graphics, whose GPU part was designed by AMD, so the culprit for these graphics flaws is actually AMD. . In any case, since it is an Intel product, the faults must be counted for Intel, although if we discount them, they would remain 28 to 27, practically equal.

Adding the CPU and GPU vulnerabilities, Intel had 67 to AMD’s 58. If the 23 of the RX Vega M were discounted, there would be 43 to 58, with Intel being the “safest” company during 2021. Hopefully both companies continue to improve these numbers for the good of their customers, since the fewer errors they have, the safer we will be.

What do you think about this Intel comparison of its number of vulnerabilities against AMD? Are you guys happy that blue CPUs are no longer a cheese grater because of how many holes they have?
