Kazakhstan discussed joint development of fields with Lukoil

ALMA-ATA, 29 Sep — PRIME. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting with co-owner of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in exploration and development of deposits, the press service of the Kazakh Cabinet reported.

The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects in terms of geological exploration and development of oil fields, as well as the modernization of drilling rigs, logistics and taxation.

Smailov stressed that the government of Kazakhstan is ready to continue working together and identify new possible areas of cooperation.

In turn, Alekperov noted that the company is interested in further expanding investments in Kazakhstan and developing new projects.

A government press release recalls that Lukoil began operations in Kazakhstan in 1995, today the company participates in a number of projects for oil and gas production, the production of lubricants, as well as in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Since 1995, the company’s investments in the republic’s economy have amounted to more than 10 billion dollars.
