DOHA, Sep 18 – PRIME. Kuwait expects to double natural gas production – from about 1.4 million to 2.8 million cubic meters, said Nawaf Saud al-Sabah, general director of the Kuwait oil corporation Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
“We are working in Kuwait to increase gas production to keep up with growing global demand and provide new investment opportunities for petrochemicals. Free gas production is currently over 500 million cubic feet (about 1.4 million cubic meters – ed.), and the goal is to reach one billion cubic feet (about 2.8 million cubic meters – ed.),” the Ar-Rayi newspaper quotes the words of the corporation’s CEO on the sidelines of the opening of the Gulf Gas Producers Conference.
According to al-Sabah, Kuwait’s strategic plans to increase gas production are aimed at reaching a billion cubic feet, and the country has the capacity to export gas.
In addition, as the head of the corporation noted, Kuwait sees among the priorities “maintaining oil production in accordance with the share allocated under the deal between oil-producing states, OPEC +, and the country has the ability to increase production when the market requires it.”
