Media: the EU proposed to make an exception to the sanctions against Russia

MOSCOW, 3 Oct — PRIME. The EU has proposed making an exception to sanctions against the Russian Federation for pilots to allow them to guide vessels with energy carriers through the straits, Bloomberg reports, citing an informed source.

“The EU has proposed to exclude the services of pilots from the sanctions against Russia, which should come into force in December,” the agency said in a statement.

It is noted that the exception will allow shipowners to hire specialist pilots to guide ships, in particular, through the straits of Denmark. These straits are used to transport crude oil and fuel from Russia.

According to the agency, EU countries are discussing this proposal.

Earlier it was reported that sanctions against oil from the Russian Federation may affect the work of a transshipment sea point in Denmark. Due to the new restrictions, shipowners will no longer be allowed to hire specialist pilots from EU companies to guide ships through the Danish straits.
