MSI launches Mech 2 graphics card series for AMD-based circuits

Earlier this year, it was discovered that members of Nvidia’s collaboration program Geforce Partner Program (GPP) needed to place AMD and Nvidia-based graphics cards in separate product lines, where, for example, Asus created Arez for Radeon cards. The program met with harsh criticism and was discontinued relatively shortly thereafter.

When the news came, however, several manufacturers had already launched the brand-exclusive graphics card series, and some choose to continue on the established track. Among these players is MSI, which is now presenting the Mech 2 series for graphics cards with circuits from AMD.

On the exhibition floor, the company shows the two models Radeon RX 580 and Radeon RX 570, which are based on the almost two-year-old architecture Polaris. The new cards differ from the predecessors in the Gaming series mainly when it comes to the aesthetic, where the two fans are surrounded by a casing in the colors black and red.

Representatives of MSI say that the Gaming series, which was previously used for all of the company’s graphics cards, will no longer be used for AMD variants. Thus, it is not unlikely that Vega-based graphics cards will accompany the Polaris cards in the future.
