MSI reveals the first AM5 motherboards with X670 and X670E chipsets for Ryzen 7000 Zen4

MSI has revealed four AM5 motherboards at Computex 2022 with X670 and X670E chipsets for Ryzen 7000 processors with Zen4 architecture. The new motherboards come with the new socket AM5 and are the MEG X670E Godlike, MEG X670E Ace, MPG X670E Carbon WiFi and PRO X670-P WiFi.

The new AMD Ryzen 700 processors will work with the new socket AM5, as well as support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. AMD announced three chipsets for the new socket, all with DDR5 support. The X670E chipset will be the top model, the X670 will offer a wide range of compatibility, depending on the choice of the manufacturer and the B650 chipset will be the cheapest model that will offer more conventional features and will have PCIe 5.0 only for storage devices.

From what we can see in the image above, the motherboards should offer improvements in the cooling system and also in the performance between GPU and CPU. MSI boards will also feature a front panel with two USB 3.2 gen2 ports with 60W fast charging. High-end MEG cards feature a Marvel AQC113 10Gbs LAN controller for users who demand more.

Additionally, the models should bring improvements for those who enjoy customizing PCs, with ARGB V2 support and a smart button for PCle 5.0 slots that should work similar to ASUS PCle Q-release.

MEG X670E As
MEG X670E models come with three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots with one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. Both Ace and Godlike motherboards will ship with Xpander-Z, which offers two more PCIe 5.0 M.2 drives. Additionally, models come with a Marvel AQC113 10 Gbs LAN.

WiFi Carbon MPG X670E
The MPG X670E Carbon WiFi features two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, one PCIe x4x16 slot, four M.2 slots, and two PCIe 4.0 slots. The Carbon board has a 2X2 USB3.2 input (20Gbs), with two more USB-C inputs (10Gbs), HDMI 2.1 output and DisplayPort 1.4.

WiFi PRO X670-P
The most basic model, the PRO X670-P will not have PCIe 5.0 x16 slots. The board comes with three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and even one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. Not to run out of PCIe 5.0 slots, which would make no sense given that motherboards are being advertised for Ryzen 7000 processors, although the Pro X670-P will have a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot.
