The new RX 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate di PowerColor (as well as the Liquid Devil Ultimate variant) is based on a Highly selected Navi 21 GPU call Navi 21 XTXH. This is what emerged from the first reviews of the Red Devil Ultimate, with the reviewers who found themselves in front of a chip not recognized by GPU-Z characterized by the device ID 0x73AF, compared to the traditional 0x73BF.

In terms of specifications (stream processors, ROPs, etc.) nothing changes compared to a traditional RX 6900 XT, except that this GPU should maintain higher operating frequencies, as well as overclock more compared to a Navi 21 XTX GPU, as long as the custom PCB and the rest of the components, as well as the cooling, are of value.

“The chip on this card was selected to ensure stability at even higher frequencies than standard cards, and the power limit has also been increased. AMD has also tweaked its software to recognize the best GPUs to unlock the highest minimum and maximum frequency settings in the Tuning section, “writes HotHardware.

The Red Devil Ultimate comes with the same heatsink as the existing Red Devil, and boasts a power supply section with 16 phases for the GPU, 3 for the VRAM and three 8-pin connectors. A dual BIOS allows you to operate at 2135/2335 MHz (Game / Boost Clock) with a TDP of 272W in Silent mode and 2235 / 2425 MHz (Game / Boost Clock) con TDP di 303W in OC Mode.

Second Overclocking.com, who received the card (in addition to HotHardware), the GPU on board the PowerColor card maintains the maximum frequency limit of 3 GHz of the traditional Navi 21 XTX, an impassable clock even under liquid nitrogen. The card was ported to 2.65 – 2.7 GHz even with that type of cooling. PowerColor subsequently sent a BIOS able to bring the card’s TDP to 330W which allowed to raise the clock up to 2800 – 2850 MHz.

At the moment it is not clear if and when other partners will receive this selected version of the Navi 21 GPU, but given the shortage situation of the video cards (and the price of these custom proposals) we will hardly see the chip in the hands of many enthusiasts, but only in those of overclockers and reviewers.

That said, the same GPU also finds space on the Liquid Devil Ultimate, variant of the card equipped with a pre-installed EKWB liquid heatsink. In this case we are talking about standard frequencies of 2305 MHz (Game) / 2480 MHz (Boost), while the second more extreme BIOS allows the GPU to operate at 2375 MHz (Game) / 2525 MHz (Boost).
