New AMD drivers enable Smart Access Memory on Radeon RX 5000

One of the main features of AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards is support for Smart Access Memory, AMD’s name for Resizable Bar technology, and we have good news for Radeon RX 5000 users who wanted to give it a try: Starting with the new Adrenalin 2020 21.9.1 drivers, AMD enabled Smart Access Memory support on the Radeon RX 5000, allowing increased performance on platforms and games that support it.

Remember that to use Smart Access Memory we must have a compatible motherboard and CPU, update the motherboard bios, and in some cases also the graphics card BIOS, so several requirements must be met to use the technology. Even so, this is worth it since the performance increases thanks to this technology in supported games are usually around 6% and in some cases it can exceed 10%, which is an excellent increase for simply enabling this technology.

These drivers are also the first to offer full support for Windows 11, and they also add support to a new automatic overclocking tool that we will be talking about in the next note, so stay tuned to learn more about this tool. As if this was not enough, they also have optimizations for Deathloop and the COD: Vanguard beta, so we recommend downloading them if you have an AMD graphics, since they will have many benefits with these new drivers.
