New benchmarks show us the single-core and multi-core performance of the i3-12100 and i3-12300

The user of the Chinese social network Bilibili “Enthusiastic Citizen” shared several tests of the new Intel Core i3-12100 and i3-12300, showing the great performance that the new Alder Lake mid-range models that will arrive in early 2022 will have. .

Before talking about its performance, it is important to talk about its specifications. Both models will have 4 cores and 8 threads of high performance “Golden Cove”, and will not have any high efficiency cores as they will be based on the smaller DIE of Alder Lake that does not have high efficiency cores. They will also have 12MB of L3 cache and 60W TDP, having a very low consumption, being ideal for mid-range PCs.

Regarding its frequencies, the i3-12300 will have a 4.4GHz single-core boost and a 4.2GHz multi-core boost, while the i3-12100 will have a 4.3GHz single-core boost and a multi-core boost. 4.1GHz core, being 100MHz below its older brother in both frequencies.

In Cinebench R20, the i3-12300 reaches 665cb in the single-core test and 3318cb in the multi-core test while the i3-12100 reaches 649cb in the single-core test and 3248cb in the multi-core test. For reference, in Tom’s Hardware tests, the Ryzen 3 5300G reaches 537cb in the single-core test and 2766cb in the multi-core test, so the performance difference of these Core i3s compared to AMD’s latest Ryzen 3 is very big. Furthermore, the single-core performance even outperforms bigs like the Ryzen 9 5900X or Ryzen 9 5950X, so performance in most applications using few threads will be the same or even better on these Core i3s.

Everything indicates that these Core i3 together with a B660 motherboard will be the definitive option in terms of price-performance during 2022, although to confirm it we will have to wait for its launch at the end of January.

What do you think about the performance of these new Core i3-12100 and Core i3-12300? Do you plan to upgrade to any of them?
