Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti gets 10 GB of graphics memory

After the launch of the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050, Nvidia has finished with new graphics cards – at least for this year. At the beginning of 2017, it is time for the graphics giant to launch another model, which will be placed between GTX 1080 and Titan X when it comes to both performance and price.

The upcoming graphics card is believed to go by the name Geforce GTX 1080 Ti and, like Titan X, will be based on the graphics circuit GP102. Previous data suggests that it will have a lower number of CUDA cores – 3,328 instead of 3,584 – but performance in line with Titan X thanks to increased clock frequencies.

Now a shipping manifesto on Zauba suggests that another thing may differ between both models. According to this, the graphics card has 10,240 MB (10 GB) of graphics memory, ie 2,048 MB (2 GB) less than Titan X. The lower amount of memory should also mean a narrower memory bus of 320 bits, but according to the same document it should retain the same width about 384 bits as Titan X.

In terms of the type of graphics memory they are about, only “GDDR” appears, which can mean either GDDR5 or GDDR5X. With GDDR5 available at an effective clock frequency of 8,000 MHz, this would mean a memory bandwidth of 384 GB / s, while the use of GDDR5X at 10,000 MHz would provide 480 GB / s.

It is worth mentioning that the accuracy of previous delivery manifestos from Zauba varied greatly, which is why the information on the amount of memory should be taken with a pinch of salt. It is also worth adding that an earlier report said that the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, just like the Titan X, will be equipped with 12 GB of GDDR5X memory.
