Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 Ti gets performance figures – in class with GTX 1070

In the autumn of 2018, Nvidia launched Turing, which replaced the architecture Pascal after two years. First out, however, were high-performing circuits in the higher price ranges, and Turing has not been available for less than SEK 4,000. However, Nvidia is said to be preparing models for the lucrative mid-range segment, and now performance figures are found online.

Specifically, it is the model Geforce GTX 1660 Ti that has been tested in the game title Final Fantasy XV. In the built-in performance test, the GTX 1660 Ti gets 5,000 points, marginally higher than the GTX 1070 and the model’s 4,954 points. In terms of performance, the new card thus looks to replace the GTX 1070, while its predecessor GTX 1060 will see itself bypassed by about 40 percent.

Geforce GTX 1660 Ti and little brother GTX 1660 are expected to get the new graphics circuit TU116, which means Turing without ray tracingfeatures in the hardware and fewer CUDA cores than before. Compared with TU106 in RTX 2070 and 2060, the circuit area should therefore have decreased from 442 mm² to around 300 mm², which means significant savings.

In terms of the number of CUDA cores, the GTX 1660 Ti is expected to offer 1,536 ticking in the turbo frequency 1,770 MHz, together with 6 GB GDDR6 in 12 GHz. Little brother GTX 1660, on the other hand, will have slower GDDR5 memory in 8 GHz paired with 1,280 CUDA cores in the turbo frequency 1,785 MHz.

The launch of the GTX 1660 Ti is expected to take place on February 22 at the recommended price of USD 279, corresponding to around SEK 3,200 including VAT. The scaled-down GTX 1660 is instead expected in March at a target price of USD 229, approximately SEK 2,600 including VAT.
