Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition has started shipping to end customers

Some time ago, it became known that Nvidia postponed the launch of the top model Geforce RTX 2080 Ti by one week. The card would then instead be launched on September 27, but in practice this only happened for third-party cards. Thus, no launch of the company’s own Founders Edition variant took place.

But now Nvidia has updated users about the situation via the company’s forum, and announces that those who pre-booked an RTX 2080 Ti with an expected shipping date in September can now expect these cards to be sent no later than 5 October. Pre-bookings that should have been shipped in October will in turn start to be sent no later than 10 October.

As a reason, Nvidia does not provide any further details other than “problems in the supply chain”. The update only applies to enthusiasts who ordered the Founders Edition model from Nvidia’s website, but models from partner manufacturers are already available in retail today, albeit in limited quantities.

Geforce RTX 2080 Ti is based on the lavish TU102 circuit of a total of 752 mm². Under the hood sits the fresh architecture Turing, containing dedicated hardware for beam tracking. In terms of performance, this is an increase of about 30 percent compared to its predecessor GTX 1080 Ti.

The price for Founders Edition is stated at SEK 13,999. At present, however, it is not possible to place new orders from Nvidia’s website.
