NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, here are the first waterblocks to cool it by liquid

EKWB e Alphacool they presented the first waterblock to liquid cool the new top of the NVIDIA range, the GeForce RTX 4090 which will land on the market on October 12th. The new solutions address NVIDIA’s reference solutions, the Founders Editionbut both companies have already anticipated that they will update the price list with models dedicated to custom variants.

In the case of EKWB, the water block is called Vector2 FE RTX 4090. The newcomer expands the Vector range and comes in two variants as per tradition: one Plexiglas and the other Acetalwhich however share the same specifications and a price of 239,90 euro with immediate pre-order availability on the EKWB website.

In the first case it is a solution that hosts a part superiore in plexiglass transparent which reveals the recirculation of the liquid. In this case it is not lacking D-RGB lighting surrounding the entire translucent plate. In the case of the Acetal version, however, the upper part is completely black and has a stripe with D-RGB lighting that separates the cooling element from the rest of the block on both sides.

Lighting can be managed directly by software from major motherboard manufacturers such as Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light o ASRock Polychrome Syncin order to synchronize the lighting of the video card with the other hardware components.

In both cases, the plate in contact with the GPU is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper. Each water block is accompanied by one black aluminum back plate Anodised which increases the contact area and allows the entire PCB to be enclosed for optimal cooling performance.

As for Alphacool, the proposed water block is only one and it is the new one Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 4090 Reference. It represents an updated version of the Aurora range, an evolution that abandons nickel plating in favor of one chrome plating. According to the German reality, the greater hardness and resistance of chrome plating offer better performance and longer service life. Also, the chrome plating favors the reflection of RGB light providing a more satisfying visual impact.

The cooling fins also change, reduced to 0,4 mm and placed at a distance of 0.4 mm between them. These changes generate a larger cooling surface and reduce flow resistance. Finally, the path of the refrigerant was revised in order to guarantee a higher and above all constant pressure.

Alphacool’s water block is currently in production and will be available from mid-October at the price of 159.98 euros with backplate included. One will also arrive later AIO variant in the form of Eiswolf 2but the company has not yet disclosed the price and details.
