Nvidia Introduces the Geforce 600 Series for Laptops

Nvidia introduces three graphics processors in the new Geforce 600 series for laptops. The model names Geforce GT 635M, 630M and 610M suggest a new generation of graphics circuits, but in reality they are only older models that live on in a different form.

The most expensive newcomer is called the Geforce GT 635M and is apparently identical to the 555M, which means 144 or 96 CUDA cores, up to 192-bit memory bus and support for GDDR5 memory.

The minimums Geforce GT 630 and 610M correspond to Geforce GT 540M and 520MX respectively, with 96/48 CUDA cores and 128 or 64-bit memory bus. As before, there is support for DirectX 11, OpenCL, PhysX, 3D Vision and HDMI 1.4.

It is worth noting, however, that the graphics processors that are now introduced in the 600 series jump down one or two notches in the name scheme, which leaves room for more and hopefully new models. Nvidia is expected to launch graphics processors with the Kepler architecture and at the same time switch to 28 nanometer manufacturing technology sometime in the first quarter of 2012.
