NVIDIA is not done with Ampere yet: new RTX 3000 models on the horizon?
The bulk of GPU Ampere produced by NVIDIA in the past months and which is bringing shops, partners and the US company itself to offer discounts on the series GeForce RTX 3000 it might be bigger than we think. what we deduce from the latest leak published by MEGAsizeGPU, which already in recent days has been noted for the rumors about the GeForce RTX 4080.

According to the leaker, the GeForce RTX 3000 range of video cards could accommodate three new models, or rather variants. First we talk about one GeForce RTX 3070 Ti basata su GPU GA102, with 256-bit bus and 8GB of GDDR6X memory. Until now, the GA102 graphics chip has only been used by NVIDIA for the 3080, 3080 Ti, 3090 and 3090 Ti solutions, while the RTX 3070 Ti adopts a GA104 in its maximum configuration with 6144 CUDA active cores.
NVIDIA could therefore choose to bring to the market – and in this regard it is not said that this happens all over the world, indeed – a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with a heavily neutered GA102 to retrace the performance of the model already on the market. In that case the goal would be to get rid of the unsold GA102 chips lying in the inventory.
The other solution coming according to MEGAsizeGPU a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti based on GA104 chip, 256-bit bus and 8 GB of GDDR6X memory. In this case it would be a change from the model on the market the type of memory, GDDR6X and non-GDDR6, perhaps to dispose of an excess of Micron GDDR6X chips. Any other changes are unknown.
Finally, the leaker mentions one GeForce RTX 3060 which, while retaining the GA106 chip, will have “only” 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. The current RTX 3060 offers 12GB of GDDR6 memory on 192-bit bus. In this regard it should be remembered that the GA106 on the RTX 3060 has 3584 CUDA cores active, while on the RTX 3050 it has a2560 unit.
If the RTX 3060 with 8 GB of memory will continue to have 3584 CUDA cores, then it will be placed between the current 3060 and the 3050. Obviously, many details are missing to get an idea of the hypothetical performances, so all that remains is to wait for any more information in the coming days.
